Hor or Not? Falkenjagd Prometheus Titan Crankset on Review
Falkenjagd’s mastery of titanium and exclusivity is no secret. But with the Prometheus titanium crankset, they’ve raised the bar once again—this time in terms of lightweight design, performance and, above all, craftsmanship. The claim? Lighter than many carbon cranksets, yet stiffer and stronger, all while standing out visually from the crowd of generic black cranks. We put the Falkenjagd Prometheus to the test to find out whether this premium upgrade is really worth it.

Falkenjagd Titan Prometheus | g 409 in 175 mm | € 1,399 | Manufacturer’s-Website

Falkenjagd and Prometheus, this is titanium in its purest form. On one side, bikes with true handmade DNA and deep manufacturing know-how; on the other, the myth: fire, civilisation, and Zeus’ merciless punishment. You couldn’t ask for a more fitting backdrop. Our test cranks were spinning on a Falkenjagd Aristos SL, a titanium bike that already impressed in our gravel race group test with its forgiving, versatile handling.

Paired with the Falkenjagd C-Ti handlebars, the overall package doesn’t try to please, it demands attention: raw titanium, maximum exclusivity, zero compromises. If you fancy a slice of this titanium cake for your own bike, the Prometheus crankset is available in three lengths (170, 172.5 and 175 mm) and with two different chainline options. But it doesn’t play its real trump card until things get serious – on the scales. At a measured 409 g, it’s lighter than many carbon rivals while offering noticeably more stiffness and durability.

The golden Garbaruk chainring is a perfect match for the Prometheus crankset – no surprise it’s available directly from the Falkenjagd shop.

On Review: What can the Falkenjagd Prometheus Titanium Crankset really do?

From the moment you start fitting it, the Prometheus makes one thing clear: it’s not just about good looks. Thanks to the DUB spindle standard and 8-bolt chainring interface, it can be adapted to virtually any drivetrain. SRAM chainrings and power meters? Bolt them straight on. Shimano or other systems? You’ll need a compatible chainring, but that’s no big deal, these are readily available. Our test bike came with a chainring from Garbaruk, with a gold finish taking the premium vibe up yet another notch.

Visually, the finish is spot-on: brushed titanium with a matte sheen, perfectly matched to the Aristos SL. Falkenjagd’s commitment to a full titanium concept is executed down to the smallest detail. But the crankset also works brilliantly beyond a titanium frame. In a world dominated by black carbon and aluminium cranks, the Prometheus stands out as a refreshingly unique choice. Minimalist? Yes, but with craftsmanship that doesn’t need to be hunted for. It jumps out at you.

Out on the trail and on the road, it performs exactly how you’d expect from a high-end crankset: noticeably unnoticeable. Stiff, direct, no flex. You put power in, and it translates it straight into forward motion – no creaks, no squeaks. That slight torsional twist you sometimes get with cheaper cranks? Not here. It’s not a revolution, there’s no “gamechanger” marketing spin, just a level of performance that lives up to both the price tag and the promise of lightweight titanium engineering. And it does all that with a look you definitely don’t see every day.

Who Should Take a Closer Look at the Falkenjagd Prometheus Titanium Crankset?

The Prometheus isn’t an upgrade for the sensible buyer – it’s for those who love titanium. For riders who aren’t looking to make yet another compromise on their premium build, but instead want that final, exclusive finishing touch. The look is understated yet striking, the weight is impressive, and the performance leaves no room for doubt. And then there’s the titanium factor, a tough one to argue with: durability. This isn’t a crankset you buy to tide you over until the next one. In the best-case scenario, it’s the last one you’ll ever need.
