The New York Rangers will be a clear team to watch once the NHL roster freeze is lifted. The Rangers are one of the NHL’s top sellers, as they have already traded Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings and Carson Soucy to the New York Islanders. Yet, with the Rangers retooling, they should not be done yet.
Braden Schneider is one of the Rangers who has been generating plenty of chatter leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. With the 2020 first-round pick being a big right-shot defenseman who is only 24 years old, he should have multiple suitors.
Because of this, let’s look at three teams that could look to acquire Schneider ahead of the deadline.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins could be a team to watch when it comes to Schneider. It is no secret that the Bruins want to improve their right side of their blueline, as they made a big push for Rasmus Andersson before the Calgary Flames traded him to the Vegas Golden Knights. While Schneider does not produce the same kind of offense as Andersson, he could still provide the Bruins with a much-needed boost on their second pairing if acquired.
Dallas Stars
The Stars undoubtedly could use another right-shot defenseman on their roster. Their right side could use another solid option, so it would make sense if they pursued Schneider. At a minimum, he would give the Stars’ bottom pairing a boost, but he also could be a fit on their second pairing and penalty kill if acquired.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators stand out as another team that needs help on the right side of their blueline. It is fair to wonder if Schneider could grab their attention because of it. He would give them another young blueliner with breakout potential, which would not be a bad thing for a Senators club that has struggled this season.
