Waiting until the last minute for Bobby McMann could help the market for Maple Leafs
Sportsnet: James Mirtle on the JD Bunkis Podcast on the Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Bobby McMann, who may be interested, and waiting for the market to develop.

Bunkis: “100%, and that’s the other part of the Bobby McMann one, before we move on to other guys. Like because we’re doing the Edmonton, Edmonton, Edmonton. God, he’s so perfect for Edmonton thing. I don’t think that we’ve had a very good discussion yet on what the market would actually look like for him. How many teams would be actively involved?
Like, do you view him as someone who has a big market because of that pending free agency or, or is it something where it is actually kind of a limited group, but all I guess you need is two, two dance partners in order to drive the price up.
NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs
Mirtle: “Yeah, I was actually looking at this on the weekend. I, I think Colorado could be really interesting for him. You get him up there playing with Brock Nelson or, you know, they need, they could use some forward depth. Obviously, they’re stacked at the top of the lineup.
I think that there’s four or five teams that are interesting for him. And if they miss on maybe one of the sexier pieces that he’s kind of their second or third option.
And I think it would be prudent for the Leafs to wait down to the last minute, the way that the Bruins did last year. Wait till two days before put some pressure on those teams that are feeling like we need to do something. Everyone knows how jammed up it is, you know.
And maybe someone gets desperate enough to give you a first-round pick or a prospect and a second. Or some kind of a package that when you look back at it a year or two from now, you’re like, ‘they got that for Bobby McMahon?’
NHL Rumors: Can Bobby McMann Land the Toronto Maple Leafs a First-Round Pick?
You know, the Leafs have to try and get some of the wins where they took the losses last year. They need to be on the other side of that. And I think he’s an attractive enough piece that, that could be someone that another team makes a mistake on.”
