In boxing news, this past weekend, in an upset, Brandon Figueroa, 29, (27-2, 20 Kos) who was a +275 underdog, defeated Nick Ball, 28, (23-1, 13 Kos) to win the WBA Featherweight world title by an exciting 12th-round stoppage in a back-and-forth war at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England on DAZN. In an event promoted by Matchroom Promotions in Guadalajara, Mexico, Christian “Chispa” Medina, 25, (27-4, 19 Kos) defeated Adrian Curiel, 27, (26-7-1, 5 Kos) via unanimous decision (120-108, 116-112, 115-113) to retain his WBO Bantamweight Title.
Former Welterweight King Errol Spence Jr. is planning to return to the ring against Tim Tszyu at light-middleweight after a three-year hiatus. No official date or venue has been announced.
Former Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza and current PBC business executive of Al Haymon denied any wrongdoing in Floyd Mayweather’s recent 340 million lawsuit. “I’ve never done anything to make sure that a fighter got less than every penny that he deserved.” Asked about the personal side of the lawsuit, Espinoza did not hide his reaction. “I’m definitely disappointed and surprised,” he said.
Former WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck, 41, (43-5-1, 28 KOs) returns to the ring on February 14, 2026, to face 41-year-old Vaclav Pejsar (26-22) at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle, Germany, streaming on DAZN. Now 41, Huck is attempting another comeback after a lengthy break following his 2024 win over Evginios Lazarides.

Jai Opetaia is set to face Brandon Glanton for the inaugural Zuffa cruiserweight championship at Zuffa Boxing 04 on March 8.
Fabio Wardley will defend his WBO World Heavyweight Championship against Daniel Dubois on May 9, 2026, at the Co-op Live in Manchester.
The WBC admitted to stripping Shakur Stevenson of his lightweight title over a $120,000 sanctioning fee dispute.
Zuffa Boxing 3 takes place Sunday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The event will be headlined by a 10-round heavyweight battle between Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba, 31, (20-1, 14 Kos) who is ranked #6 by the WBC, and former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin, 39, (30-4-1, 27 Kos). Charles Martin is returning after taking a few years off, when he lost a decision to Jared Anderson back in 2023. Ajagba has rebounded from the only decision loss of his career in 2021 to Frankie Sanchez and had a draw with Martin Bakole in his last fight in May of 2025. In MMA News, the UFC will be off this week and returns next week in Houston, Texas, with the durable #3 Sean Strickland, 34, (29-7), who will be going up against #4 Anthony Hernandez, 32, (15-2). You can view the upcoming cards below.
This past weekend, #8 Mario Bautista, 30, (17-3) took one step closer to a title shot and defeated #12 Vinicius Oliveira, 30, (23-4) via second-round submission. In PFL news, Usman Nurmagomedov, 27, (21-0, 1 NC) once again demonstrated his world-class ability by remaining the undefeated PFL Lightweight World Champion with a fourth-round submission victory over challenger No. 2-ranked Alfie “The Axe Man” Davis, 33, (20-6-1) in the main event at the PFL Road to Dubai. Potentially, Usman could become one of the top free agents in the sport, as he has one fight remaining on his current PFL contract. Usman is the cousin of MMA legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov. UFC is involved in an ongoing antitrust lawsuit, with CEO Dana White and Hunter Campbell testifying on Feb. 4-5, 2026, regarding allegations of missing text messages and potential spoliation of evidence. Plaintiffs argue that critical communication regarding fighter contracts was not produced, while White denied deleting messages and claimed reduced involvement in matchmaking. ESPN reports that TKO Group is organizing an event at the White House, expected to feature just 6-7 fights, with potential involvement from Jon Jones.
The UFC has released top-10 ranked heavyweight Jailton Almeida, 34,(22-5) following back-to-back losses, most recently a decision defeat to Rizvan Kuniev.
Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall shared a photo of his eyes following surgery on his YouTube channel this week.
