If you’ve ever wondered what the point of a full suspension BMX is, We The People just posted your answer. The German brand’s new video shows its Swampmaster full-suspension BMX being ridden exactly the way skeptics said it never could be. Fast, loose and completely out of control in the best possible way. Foot-jam, nosepick mid-trail? No problem!
MTB meets BMX is an overused phrase, but here it actually fits.
Built for trails, not just skateparks
The Swampmaster runs a 4130 chromoly frame paired with a RockShox Deluxe rear shock and a Manitou Machete J-Unit fork delivering 100 mm of travel up front. Hydraulic disc brakes, Boost front spacing and proper Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR II tires make it clear this bike was not designed for curb hopping.
It weighs about 14.5 kilograms (32 pounds), which sounds heavy for a BMX unless you recall the overbuilt era of the late 90s early 2000s.
Why it actually makes sense
The video’s standout moments come from Jacob Nedler leaning the bike into corners and nose-bonking bridges, 360-whipping manualling rollers.
That is the point. This bike is meant for people who shred dirt jumps, pump tracks and bike parks but feel BMX bikes are too twitchy and mountain bikes are oversized.
Between Reuben Alacantara’s FingersCrossed project and the We The People Swampmaster, this is not a new idea. But this video finally makes it look less like novelty and more like proof of concept. It will not replace your trail bike or your park bike. It does open up a strange new middle ground that looks ridiculously fun for those with BMX leanings…
Honestly, the best argument for a full-suspension BMX is watching someone shred on one of them. And Jacob Nedler is just the man for the job. I hope to see more of this. Well done WTP.
