Premier League side Burnley booed off after FA Cup defeat to League One Mansfield

Mansfield captain Louis Reed, speaking to Final Score: “One of them, soon as it left my boot I felt it going in. I have been working on them throughout the week. The lads said, ‘This is your moment, go and take it’. Thankfully, I did.

“It shows what a group we have got. The draws we keep getting are big ones. I felt we were always in the game even when we were 1-0 down at half-time.

“I think a cliché, whoever we get in the next round, we will go into that with the same energy as this one.”

Mansfield Town first-team coach Andy Garner, speaking to TNT Sports: “Yeah we can [believe it]. We said that to them at half-time, that we didn’t think there was anything to fear. We were a little disappointed in the first half with how much we gave the ball away, especially in the final third a bit sloppy at times.

“We said, ‘let’s get back into this game’ and we believed we could.”

On Louis Reed’s winner: “Incredible. He’s had a couple of free-kicks eariler this season. It was a good position in the centre and I fancied him to be honest to at least hit the target. But when it’s better than that and it goes in the top corner it is a fantastic finish.”

On going toe-to-toe with Burnley: “We didn’t want to come here and sit back. We wanted to go forward and have a go. We did that in the first 25 minutes but the quality wasn’t great and we are better than that. In the second half we improved and scored two very good goals.”

Here’s how fans reacted with Premier League side Burnley booed off after their FA Cup defeat to League One Mansfield…

@1882Est: Chris Iwelumo just summarised things perfectly on Talksport. Regardless of what comes out of Parker’s mouth his whole demeanor is defeatist. He doesn’t appear to believe what he is saying and clearly the players don’t based on overall performances. #twitterclarets

@M_Mac008: Absolutely called it, what a surprise (not) getting turned over by Mansfield. Serious question for @AlanPaceBFC what exactly does Parker need to do to get sacked? This is “dire and without hope”. Sort it out. #twitterclarets

@CheeseQuavers: If that, along with 17 games without a win, doesn’t get someone sacked, I don’t know what will. Horrific.

@PENDLECLARET1: We’ve been beaten by TWO league 1 sides this season @AlanPaceBFC DO SOMETHING FUCKING RETARD

@kristophisonn: This shouldn’t have even been a challenge given the league we’re in, the fact we finished with most of our prem squad on and lost to Mansfield of all fucking teams is unforgivable. Fucking useless it’s sad to see how bad we’ve got

@LarryClaret1: We’ve exited both cups to League One clubs at home. The club is a clown show, run by clowns and managed by a clown. He brought a left back on and took a midfielder off. WTF is going on at that club?!?!

@PENDLECLARET1: @AlanPaceBFC hope you’re happy with yourself you spineless fucktard

@Only1JoeWorrall: “fine margins, tough competition, we’re improving every week, results don’t show how well we’ve played” #twitterclarets

@MarvTheClaret: Hey @AlanPaceBFC – here’s an idea – sack him before the fans turn on you! It’s coming. #twitterclarets

@DaveEd_207: People calling the Mansfield result today a shock…I’m not sure about that. It’s the result everyone expected. That right? @SennaBurnley #twitterclarets

@sixtysixrick: We’re fucking shit , we’re fucking shit , we’re fucking shit, we’re fucking shit, we’re fucking shit 🎶🎶 Altogether now #PARKEROUT #twitterclarets

@DanielRiley90: Scott Parker is one of the worst managers I’ve had the displeasure of watching us play under. Football used to be enjoying to go to, now it’s a chore. The guy has zero tactical awareness and zero leadership on the side. Get gone tonight. #twitterclarets

@Dazmac1882: Mansfield showing everyone that you don’t need a team full of Messi’s, they fought for everything and got the win, fair play #twitterclarets

@__MaRoBr: I wish I could personally tell Sean Dyche how much we miss him. How his players would die for him on the pitch #twitterclarets

@_ConorBFC: @AlanPaceBFC do the honourable thing now and just do one. Cowardly stuff, to come out with a load of rubbish after a win, only for us to then lose to Mansfield. You have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. Take Scott and half that team with you 👍 #twitterclarets

@LeesBetting: As a Burnley fan myself, why the fuck would I care about losing in the FA Cup? The league is our main focus and personally i’d much prefer to play less games and keep everyone fit for the back end. #twitterclarets

@RLCBFC90: Never felt so disconnected from the club than I do right now. There’s no endearing quality about this team that as a fan you can get behind. All identity and charisma has been sucked completely out of the club. #twitterclarets

@QuinnSK97: Palace definitely a fluke. Get these yanks and that silly quif headed cunt out of my club. Alan Pace, go write another letter to the fans and file it straight up your arse and fuck off
