The Denver Broncos – many of their fans will argue – should have been at the very least participating in Super Bowl LX.
Had quarterback, Bo Nix not broken his ankle in the overtime win against the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos could well have put up a sterner challenge against the New England Patriots, who ended up winning a low-scoring affair 10-7.
However, moving now into the offseason Denver will look to areas of improvement on both sides of the ball, and one that may be particularly glaring is that of the offensive skill positions.
With Courtland Sutton entering his age-31 season, many believe the team need a new #1 wide receiver to replace the solid, but ageing Pro Bowler.
And one player that could make a lot of sense for the team is Philadelphia Eagles wideout, A.J. Brown. Brown’s status with the team remains tenuous, and if the Eagles get sufficient draft compensation, it is very likely that general manager Howie Roseman would be willing to move off of the three-time All-Pro at this point in time.
Broncos Proposed Trade Package Includes Young Edge Rusher
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton compiled a hypothetical trade package that Denver could come up with to land Brown; a second round pick in 2026 plus former third round edge rusher, Jonah Elliss.
“Reportedly in search of a top receiver, Denver may be interested in a deal for Brown. Equipped with $28.9 million in cap space, the Broncos wouldn’t need to move around big contracts to fit the wide receiver’s deal under the cap.” Moton wrote.
“Brown could open up the Denver offense with his ability to stretch the field. Troy Franklin has the speed, but he’s averaging just 10.5 yards per reception. Entering his age-31 term, Courtland Sutton could show some signs of decline. Brown can elevate the Broncos’ mediocre pass-catching unit.”
Jonah Elliss Could Get More Opportunities in Philadelphia
Moton also explains on the reverse side of the trade, how it could make more intuitive sense of the Eagles to want to obtain a pass rusher rather than a receiver in return, alongside the second round pick.
“Logical thinking says the Eagles would want a receiver in exchange for Brown, but general manager Howie Roseman tends to stockpile offensive and defensive linemen.” Moton continues.
In a new city with a chance to become one of the clear cut top three edge rushers on defense, Elliss could prove to be a Pro Bowl caliber player – and maybe more.
