USA secured a convincing 31-run win over the Namibia in the 26th match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Chennai. It marked USA’s second victory of the tournament.

After winning the toss, USA opted to bat first and posted an imposing 199/4 in 20 overs. Captain Monank Patel provided a solid start, adding 68 runs for the opening stand with Shayan Jahangir. Patel went on to score 52 off 30 balls.

The momentum was further boosted by a crucial 87-run partnership between Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Milind Kumar. Krishnamurthi was the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 68 off 33 balls, including four fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 206.06. For Namibia, Willem Myburgh and captain Gerhard Erasmus picked up two wickets each.

Chasing 200, Namibia showed promise early on. Louren Steenkamp put together key partnerships with Jan Frylinck and later with Jan Nicole Loftie-Eaton, keeping the chase alive. Steenkamp top-scored with 58 off 39 balls, and at the halfway stage Namibia looked well in contention.

However, disciplined bowling from USA halted the momentum. Tight lines and controlled spells restricted Namibia to 168/5 in their 20 overs. Shadley van Schalkwyk claimed two wickets for 30 runs at an economy of 7.50.

Krishnamurthi was deservedly named Player of the Match for his explosive knock that laid the foundation for USA’s victory.
