MONTRÉAL — Eye of the Tiger Management officially launched its 2026 campaign on Thursday night with a sold-out six-bout gala at the Casino de Montréal, delivering a memorable evening highlighted by championship performances and rising Canadian talent.
Main Event
Montreal’s unbeaten standout Mehmet Unal (15-0, 13 KOs) continued his rapid ascent in the light heavyweight division with a 9th-round knockout of Germany’s Altin Zogaj (17-1, 9 KOs).
Trained by renowned coach Marc Ramsay, Unal successfully defended his WBC Continental light heavyweight title while also capturing the vacant WBA Continental championship at 175 pounds. With the victory, Unal further solidified his status as a world contender, currently ranked No. 9 by the WBC.
Co-Main Event
Two-time Belarusian Olympian Dzmitry Asanau (12-0, 6 KOs) remained undefeated with a dominant showing against Spanish champion Carlos Ramos (18-4-1, 10 KOs).
Fighting under the guidance of Montreal-based trainer Samuel Décarie-Drolet, Asanau forced a corner stoppage after seven rounds, successfully defending his WBC Continental lightweight title (135 lb). Asanau now sits No. 4 in the WBC rankings and No. 11 with the IBF.
Undercard Highlights
Representing Thetford Mines and now residing in Candiac, Thomas Chabot (12-1, 8 KOs) earned a hard-fought split decision victory over heavy-handed New Brunswick native Dominic Babineau (13-3-1, 11 KOs). The judges scored the contest 100-90, 99-91, and 94-96.
A two-time Canadian amateur champion, Chabot was competing in his first scheduled 10-round bout and successfully made his featherweight debut (126 lb) after campaigning primarily in the division above.
Canadian Olympic bronze medalist from the Paris 2024 Games, Wyatt Sanford (6-0, 2 KOs) continued his strong professional run with a six-round unanimous decision over Argentina’s Alexis Gabriel Camejo (10-6-1, 1 KO). Sanford swept the scorecards 60-54 across the board, earning his sixth professional win in less than a year since debuting in May 2024.
Local favorite Keven Beausejour (2-0, 2 KOs) delivered an emphatic performance in his Montréal debut, stopping durable Czech opponent Petr Strnad (4-4-2, 2 KOs) via second-round knockout. Beausejour became the first fighter to stop Strnad, building on momentum from his professional debut victory in Mexico last December.
Opening the card at super welterweight, Dante Tice Oliveira (2-0, 1 KO) of Longueuil secured the first knockout of his career, halting veteran Argentine Gonzalo Manriquez (6-8-1) in the fourth and final round.
