There was further class podium success for the two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered teams within the weather curtailed GT4 Winter Series at the weekend but neither had it all their own way at Valencia.
With predicted strong winds effectively taking out all programmed track action at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo on Saturday, teams were left with just their Friday testing (if they were in attendance) or going in blind over the course of their race races on Sunday as organises were forced to race series within series in order to get through the race programme.
The #007 Araujo Competicao AMR Vantage GT4 Evo of Bruno Pierira and Frederico Peters were again in attendance within the Pro-Am class alongside the #700 Mucke Motorsport Club class entry for Thilo Goos and Mattis Pluschkell.
For the first time this winter season, the teams also enjoyed predominantly dry weather running after the two previous rounds so far have been run mostly in the wet so at least it was a chance for most to push the envelope just a little more as they again competed within two – twenty-five-minute solo driver races before an hour-long pit stop punctuated finale.
Whilst race one was productive for both Pereira (P7 overall / P2 in class) and Goos (P10 overall / P1 in class), that was the best and last that the #700 would perform after Pluschkell would suffer suspension damage after contact in race two that also saw them as a non-starter in race three.
For the Araujo crew, however, they would round off their Valencia weekend with a P3 class finish in race two before an overall P4 / P2 finish in the endurance round.
The series now gets a couple of well-earned weekends off before heading to Aragon for their penultimate round of the season.
