Las Vegas, NV (February 16th, 2026)-– Ryan Garcia, with his T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas February 21, 2026, World Boxing Council challenge for Mario Barrios World Welterweight title still on the line, has been fined 5000 dollars by the WBC for failing to provide required video evidence he is within five percent of the 147 pounds weight limit by the 14 days WBC mandated deadline, according to information provided to Boxing Scene. Berrios has complied with the WBC.

Garcia has won only one of his last five bouts since defeating Javier Fortuna at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in July 2026. Garcia was more than three pounds overweight for his victory over Devin Haney at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in April 2024, a bout in which he knocked down Haney three times, got deducted a point for hitting off the break, and later saw the outcome overturned to a No Contest.

Garcia did submit proof with a second time window provided by Sulaiman. A second weight check scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2026, was made successfully by Garcia, which required both fighters to be no more than three percent above the maximum allowed weight.

According to the official statement of the WBC, “We expect to receive the weight video either today (February 15, 2026) or first thing tomorrow morning (February 16, 2026), depending on his (Ryan Garcia’s) training schedule. If we do not receive this (required weight evidence) video by then, we (the World Boxing Council) will be making a press statement and will contact the (Nevada State Athletic Commission) boxing commission with this concern.” Garcia, however, did comply.
