ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers continue to reap the rewards of their international scouting and recent drafts, landing five players on FanGraphs’ prestigious 2026 Top 100 Prospects list released Monday. This is nice to see because the Rangers system took a massive hit when the Rangers traded for Mackenzie Gore and we have only heard how bad the Rangers system is and that they have no one after Sebastian Walcott and Caden Scarborough. This proves that to be wrong.
Shortstop Sebastian Walcott leads the Rangers’ contingent, coming in at No. 30 overall. The 19-year-old infielder (20 in March), who finished the 2025 season with Double-A Frisco, is widely considered one of the highest-ceiling talents in the minor leagues due to his elite raw power and improved plate discipline.
The list highlights a significant shift in the Rangers’ system, which now boasts a blend of high-contact infielders and high-velocity arms. Joining Walcott are shortstop Yolfran Castillo (No. 70), right-hander Caden Scarborough (No. 71), right-hander David Davalillo (No. 89), and right-hander Winston Santos (No. 103).
The Infielders: Walcott and Castillo
Walcott remains the headliner. After a 2025 campaign where he lowered his strikeout rate while maintaining a high ISO (isolated power), scouts view him as a potential middle-of-the-order threat.
Castillo, also 19, slots in at No. 70. Known for his advanced bat-to-ball skills, Castillo has quickly ascended the ranks after a standout season in Single-A.
Wave of Arms
The Rangers’ focus on pitching development is evident with three right-handers cracking the top 110:
Caden Scarborough (No. 71): A 20-year-old riser who has seen his fastball velocity jump into the mid-90s. He finished 2025 with a 2.45 ERA in 88.0 innings between Low-A (75.0 IP) and High-A (13.0 IP).
David Davalillo (No. 89): A 23-year-old command specialist who posted a sub-2.50 ERA across two levels (High-A and Double-A) last season. Across 107.0 innings he only issued 28 walks.
Winston Santos (No. 103): Though technically just outside the century mark, Santos is graded as a “High-FV” (Future Value) prospect with a 98-mph fastball that could see him in Arlington by late 2026.
With four of these five prospects expected to reach Triple-A or the major leagues within the next 18 months, the Rangers’ “Next Wave” is no longer a distant prospect—it’s at the doorstep.
