Birchfield’s Ethiopian Kadar Omar got the series underway with an 80-metre victory over Jonathan Escalante-Phillips in 28:54.

There was a personal best for women’s winner Poppy Tank as the 28-year-old took 24 seconds from her Valencia set 2024 mark, with 32:10.

Second placed 20-year-old Natasha Phillips inched her best down to 32:33 from 32:48.
