Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart have made their first offer for Hoffenheim midfielder Grischa Prömel.
The midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and several clubs are trying to sign him on a free transfer, while Hoffenheim are trying to extend his contract.
The Swabians have made their first offer, which is said to be ‘lucrative’ for the 31-year-old, who they see as a leader who can also offer goalscoring from the midfield.
However, Stuttgart have set a limit on how far they will go financially when it comes to chasing the midfielder. What may play into Stuttgart’s favour is the fact that this would be Prömel’s last chance to not only earn a good contract, but also play for his hometown team.
Prömel is expected to make a decision on his future by March.
Stuttgart’s midfield options:
If Prömel moves to Mercedestraße, he could be considered as an upgrade on Atakan Karazor. The captain has shown to have his limitations, both physically and technically, and the current Hoffenheim midfielder would offer an alternative to Angelo Stiller and Chema Andres.
