A ranked UFC welterweight was not impressed with Jake Paul’s performance against Anthony Joshua.
Paul and Joshua locked horns in a heavyweight boxing match last year on December 19, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami. This fight was also streamed on Netflix.
“The Problem Child” entered the fight as a massive underdog in the oddsmakers’ books, and on fight night, he proved them right by refusing to engage for the first few rounds with “AJ” and trying every trick to stall the fight, so that he could survive for the majority of the rounds.
Fans and analysts had expected Joshua to send the YouTuber-turned-boxer to the shadow realm within 2 rounds.
However, Paul frustrated the Brit by circling the ring. Finally, by Round 5, the 29-year-old was gassed out and got knocked down twice, but managed to beat the count.
In the 6th round, the same pattern continued. Paul was again sent crashing to the canvas for the third time. When he got back up, Joshua did not give him any time and went for the final kill, knocking Paul down a fourth and final time, which was enough to secure a TKO win.
Paul broke his jaw in two places and had to undergo surgery immediately after the bout, during which he had titanium plates fitted and some teeth removed.
Joaquin Buckley doesn’t want to see Jake Paul fight Ever Again
During a recent interview with Parry Punch, Joaquin Buckley, who believes MMA is more exciting than boxing and has recently been feuding with Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson, also took a dig at Jake Paul.
Buckley said that every time “The Problem Child” enters the ring, the majority of fans want him to be knocked out, and it was finally Anthony Joshua who did the job right:
“It’s like every other fight, right? When Jake Paul gets into a situation where he’s setting up these massive events for himself, we’re always thrilled to see the expectation of him getting knocked out. That’s what we always want to see, regardless of who he’s fighting. Even when he was fighting Tyron Woodley, even when he was fighting Anderson Silva, when he fought Diaz, we were all praying like, ‘Hey, they gonna be the ones to do it. They gonna be our saviors and knock him out.’”
“And it wasn’t until he got a fight with a guy like Anthony Joshua, where we just knew, okay, this has to be the end. Anthony Joshua has to be the person to put all this to a stop.”
Buckley then pointed out how Paul did everything in his power to survive for the maximum minutes against a two-time unified WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight champion, while also noting that the 29-year-old had the perfect game plan, despite the humiliation.
“Realizing that Jake Paul was doing everything in his power to survive. Hugging, falling into takedowns… When you’re fighting somebody who’s constantly trying to run away, constantly falling into positions where you can’t get a clean shot off, it’s not easy. [You can’t just throw one punch and be done].”
“Eventually, Anthony Joshua did his job and broke Jake Paul’s jaw, splitting it in two, maybe to the point where Jake Paul can never box again… At the end of the day, Jake Paul has been training and has been very proficient with his skill set against other fighters. I can’t act like he’s just some average Joe off the street, because if he was, AJ would have taken him out in two rounds. So, in my opinion, Anthony Joshua did his job that night. Period.”
Lastly, “New Mansa” added that Jake Paul wasted his and every other boxing fan’s time, and hence, he doesn’t intend to see “The Problem Child” compete ever again.
“I felt like he wasted our time sitting there and watching that nonsense. At the end of the day, he got the job done…Once Jake Paul slowed down, lost energy, stopped shooting takedowns… AJ caught his shot, and that one shot put Jake Paul down for the count.”
