The experienced duo of Tvesa Malik and Ridhima Dilawari shared the day one lead in leg four of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Poona Club Golf Course on Tuesday.
While Tvesa produced three birdies in the closing four holes, Ridhima had five birdies on her front nine to total 3 under par 68s, the WGAI said.
The third player in the marquee group, Vani Kapoor (69) was a shot behind in sole third, while amateur Anuradha Chaudhary (70) was the only other player to go under par for fourth place.
Tvesa, who won a play-off last week in Pune, had one bogey and one birdie on the front nine, while Ridhima ran away with five birdies.
The Kalhaar leg winner then added one more to go 6 under, but dropped a shot on hole 11. A seventh birdie followed on 14 but a double bogey on 15 and a closing bogey saw her return a 68.
Fast finish
Tvesa birdied 12 and bogeyed 13 and was even par with four holes to go. She birdied 15, parred 16 and closed birdie-birdie for a share of the lead.
Amateur Lavanya Gupta was 1 over 72 for fifth, while Sneha Singh, Durga Nittur, Jasmine Shekar, Anivtha Narender and Vidhatri Urs were all tied for sixth at 2 over 73.
Among the other top stars in the field, Amandeep Drall (74) was T11 and Neha Tripathi (75) T14.
The field this week has a record 49 players vying for a prize purse of Rs. 17 lakh, taking Hero MotoCorp’s support of the Tour to new levels.
