Former Packers CEO Mark Murphy to be inducted into Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame

Former Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy will be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame this summer as part of the 2026 class.

Murphy, 70, spent 17 years as President and CEO of the Packers before retiring last summer after reaching the mandatory retirement age set by the team. Under Murphy, the Packers won a Super Bowl in 2011 and were among the winningest teams in the NFL. Off the field, Murphy helped build out the Titletown campus and invested millions in programs and facilities to support Lambeau Field. One of his biggest accomplishments with the team was bringing the NFL Draft to Green Bay last April. Murphy was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame last August alongside DB Tramon Williams and OL Earl Dotson.

In a statement to the Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame, Murphy said he’s “extremely humbled and honored” to be inducted. “The Packers are a special and unique organization, the best in all of professional sports. I’m very proud of all that we accomplished during my tenure, both on and off the field.”

Currently, Murphy is the Executive in Residence at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he works to improve the university’s athletic program. Before joining the Packers in 2007, Murphy spent time as an athletic director at Northwestern and Colgate University, his alma mater. Prior to that, he played 8 seasons in the NFL with Washington, where he won a Super Bowl.

The Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame is celebrating its 76th anniversary this year and describes the event as “an annual celebration that honors the state’s most accomplished athletes, coaches, teams, and contributors whose achievements have left a lasting impact on Wisconsin sports.” Previous Packers inductees include Vince Lombardi, Reggie White, Bart Starr, Brett Favre, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, and Charles Woodson.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Marcus Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee.
