Matt Dean is back in as head women’s basketball coach at Rhodes, and Judi Thurman is out, as she was relieved of her coaching duties with two weekends to go in the Lynx’s regular season. In Thurman’s third season as head coach, Rhodes entered this past weekend at 6-15, on a five-game losing streak.
Dean, who retired from coaching at the end of the 2016-17 season at Rhodes, has spent 35 years at Rhodes and has had 12 different job titles, including formerly being the school’s athletic director. He rejoined the team as an assistant coach this season.
Thurman was 28-44 in her two-plus seasons as head coach. The Lynx went 1-1 this past weekend under Dean and are a half-game out of the final SAA playoff spot with two games to play.
