Weston McKennie’s name is continuing to pop up more and more frequently for Juventus this season.
McKennie delivered one of his more impressive performances of the season on Saturday, registering two assists despite Juventus’ 3-2 Serie A loss to Inter Milan. The American midfielder earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors following his latest gem for the Bianconeri.
McKennie teed up Andrea Cambiaso for Juventus’ first equalizer in the 26th minute before also setting up Manuel Locatelli for the visitors second tying goal of the match with eight minutes to play. Although Luciano Spalletti’s squad did not walk away with three points, McKennie walked away with another stellar performance in what has been one of his best seasons overall.
With 11 goal contributions now this season, the 27-year-old has already set a new career high for a single season. If Juventus wants to end the campaign with silverware, they will surely need McKennie to delivering goals and assists across all competitions.
Juventus will next visit Turkish club Galatasaray on Tuesday in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff series.
Here is a closer look at this week’s top Americans Abroad performances:
Gianluca Busio
Gianluca Busio excelled in Venezia’s Serie B win over Cesena.
Busio scored his sixth goal of the season in a 4-0 road triumph, a result that kept Venezia top of the league standings. The American midfielder is continuing to excel for the second-tier side as he keeps up his hopes of potentially making the USMNT’s World Cup roster.
Antonee Robinson
For the first time in one month, Antonee Robinson logged a full shift for Fulham.
Robinson played 90 minutes in the Cottagers’ 2-1 FA Cup victory over Stoke City on Sunday. The veteran defender was solid all around, helping Marco Silva’s squad erase an early deficit at the Bet365 Stadium.
Sunday’s performance should do Robinson a world of good as he tries to get back into a consistent Premier League role.
Patrick Agyemang
Derby County’s top-six quest continued Saturday with Patrick Agyemang being amongst the goals again.
Agyemang scored his 10th goal of the EFL Championship season in the Rams’ 2-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday. The USMNT forward rose high to head home Derby’s second goal of the match, continuing a positive run of form in the squad.
Bryan Reynolds
Westerlo claimed its second win out its last three matches with Bryan Reynolds getting his name on the scoresheet.
Reynolds scored Westerlo’s second goal in a 2-0 road triumph over Royal Antwerp, helping the club move to 10th place in the league standings. The veteran defender has continued to play a large role for the club this season and adding a few more goals by season’s end could help Westerlo get into the playoff picture.
