Tyson Fury’s Brother Names 3 Coaches They’d Consider For Arslanbek Makhmudov Boxing Fight

Tyson Fury raised eyebrows in the boxing industry when he said this week that he’s a “one-man band” and training himself in Thailand, ahead of his eagerly-anticipated return to the ring.

The former heavyweight world champion fights Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Apr. 11 — his first fight since back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

A near 20-year veteran, Fury has showcased considerable advancements in his technical ability, and his power, to go along with his extraordinary size, since the fighter who went viral for uppercutting himself in the face.

Through his alliance with the late Emanuel Steward, Jonathan Banks, and Ben Davison, Fury has taken heed of numerous coaching methods and applied them to his unorthodox style. However, his latest decision may be the most unconventional of them all, as he recently indicated he’s coaching himself, instead.

According to his brother, Shane Fury, there are three trainers he’d consider adding to the camp, though.

“All Tyson’s career, I’ve wanted him with someone with experience in the corner, and there’s [only] a handful in Britain,” he told The Stomping Ground.

“I’d like to see him train with Dominic Ingle, but that boat might have sailed. He seems to be a one-stop shop — conditioning, nutrition. Another fella would be Adam Booth, he always looks level-headed and comes in with a game-plan with well-balanced fighters. Shane McGuigan looks a level-headed man.”

It’s unclear if even those names will be integrated to the preparations, though.

“I think Tyson’s happy with what he’s doing,” Shane said.

As for Fury, his long-time promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions suggested bigger fights down the line for his fighter, should Tyson prevail in the Makhmudov fight — including, he said, a possible trilogy fight with Usyk, or the winner from the upcoming championship bout between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.

Fury, meanwhile, suggested he’s been bored watching boxing in retirement. “I came back to make boxing great again,” he said.

“Boxing is at its maximum potential when Tyson Fury is actively fighting. I bring a circus. I bring an entourage. I bring entertainment. I bring action. I bring cameras. I bring everything to the sport.”
