Maple Leafs recall Bo Groulx from Toronto Marlies, Max Domi misses practice for personal reasons
Maple Leafs F Max Domi (personal) and G Joseph Woll (flu) will not take part in today’s practice.
F Bo Groulx has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Groulx, 26, earns his first call-up from the minors of the season after what’s been an extremely successful season for the French-born Canadian forward. A second-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2018, Groulx had spent his entire career with the Ducks before signing a deal with the Maple Leafs over the summer of 2025. He hasn’t been able to figure it out at the NHL level yet, with only one goal and five points across 65 games over three seasons with the Ducks, but he’s been a dominant presence for the Marlies thus far. To date, he has 22 goals and 42 points in 47 games, good enough to lead the Marlies in scoring.
It’s hard to say at this point whether Groulx will get into any games with the Maple Leafs given the fact that the Olympic break is still active. He could very well just be a placeholder until Domi returns, but in that same breath, the Leafs may also be using this break as an opportunity to see what they have in Groulx in the event that they sell off some forwards at the upcoming NHL Trade Deadline. With names like Bobby McMann, Nicolas Roy, and Calle Jarnkrok among others being floated as potential sell-off candidates, the Leafs will have to fill those holes in the lineup to ice a team afterwards, so this is something to keep an eye on.
The Maple Leafs haven’t specified the reasoning for Domi’s absence beyond that it’s for personal reasons, and Woll will presumably return as soon as he gets over his illness.
