Former middleweight champion Sean
Strickland’s Octagon return is now official following the
UFC Houston weigh-ins.

Strickland (29-7) has stirred up plenty of controversy going into
this week’s
Ultimate Fighting Championship event with plenty of
sexist and homophobic remarks. Looking to make him pay in the
main event is opponent Anthony
Hernandez. Both men successfully made weight for the five-round
fight. The only fighter to miss weight was Philip
Rowe, who came in one pound over the welterweight limit for his
fight against Jean-Paul
Lebosnoyani. For coming in at 172 pounds, Rowe will be fined a
percentage of his purse.
“Tarzan” has earned only one victory since winning the 185-pound
title. Sandwiched in between decision defeats to Dricus Du
Plessis is a split decision win over Paulo
Costa. The 34-year-old American will look to show that he’s
still got more left in the tank and isn’t past his prime.
Strickland stepped on the scale weighing 185 pounds for his first
fight of 2026.
Hernandez (15-2, 1 NC) enters the biggest fight of his career with
an eight-fight win streak dating back to 2021. Recent victories
over Roman
Dolidze and Brendan
Allen have cemented “Fluffy” as a top contender in the
division. The 32-year-old will look to potentially earn a title
shot with an impressive performance. Hernandez officially weighed
186 pounds for the main event.
UFC Houston will air in its entirety on Paramount+. Prelims begin
at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT, while the main card kicks off at 8 p.m.
ET/5 p.m. PT.
