Megamo Reason CRB 05

Yep, it has THAT motor. DJI Avinox M1 Motor 105Nm (120Nm in Boost burst) 1000W. 800Wh battery. Full carbon frame, Boost, 160mm travel. Fox 36 Performance 160mm fork. Fox Float X Performance shock. These numbers suggest to us that this bike may be a little more our cup of tea than the Amflow PL Carbon is/was.

Simba Hybrid King Size Mattress & Duvet

  • Price: £899.99 mattress, £139.99 duvet
  • FromSimba

Fresh Goods comes with an open invite to brands and distributors to send us their latest gear. We don’t impose fees or conditions on that invite. Our goal is to show you everything that turns up. And so it is with this large package that arrived from mattress company Simba, who are clearly in the midst of a huge promotion campaign right now.

They offered us this stuff, and well, considering there are fewer of you out there who actually ride bikes regularly than there are those of you who actually sleep, we thought, why not? We all sleep.

The mattress is a 25cm thick hybrid of foam and metal springs in 9 layers and Simba claim the special top layer of graphite infused foam conducts heat away from your body to prevent over heating. The top layer of the mattress is removable and washable. The duvet is a tog 10.5 duvet and the claim is it leads to a cooler sleep.

But there’s more

Along with the mattress and duvet, Simba sent us these slippers. Yup!

These slippers are not just ordinary slippers. Oh no! They apparently have reflexology bumps all built in to exactly the right places to massage your feet before you go to bed. Oh yes! There’s 9 pressure points and these ROK slippers are good for outside as well as inside. So you can safely do your shopping in your onesie and your slippers if that’s your thing.

To Review or not to Review?

That is the question. We are obviously going to put them to the test. Mark has already claimed them and installed them at home. Do you want to see a full review of a mattress, duvet and slippers? Logged-in users can vote below…

Ogio Crawler Bag

At 98Litres, the Ogio Crawler is ideally sized for that big trip to the mountains, whether in the car or a plane. There’s a big central section, flanked by a top and bottom compartment that’d take a helmet and shoes respectively. A pull out handle and wheels makes it way more manoeuvrable than it should be and grab handles all around mean you can load it into the truck, car, bus, house when you get to where you’re going. Just make sure to add a colourful luggage tag or other rad riders will pick it up by accident, as everyone has one! (Ask us how we know…)

M-Part Small Parts Torque Wrench

Somewhere, right now, there’s an engineer carefully calculating the torque values for a new bike product. And somewhere, there’s a rider with a foot-long Allen key completely ignoring those carefully specced values. Don’t be that rider. This M-Part torque wrench comes with all the right hex and Torx bits for your bike and is calibrated from 3Nm up to 15Nm, which enough for all of the normal bolts on your bike. Get one!

Maxxis Crossmark II

In a world of more and more aggressive treads, it’s good to see that the Maxxis Crossmark is still out there. [Although not in the original Christophe Sauser ‘Swiss-flag-plus symbol’ tastic incarnation – Rubber Ed.] Given a mud-free world, it has enough tread for a rear tyre all year and can be run front and rear in the summer. It’s fast and surprisingly grippy, comes in 27.5, 29 and 2.1in and 2.25in widths.

Continental Hydrotal

Imagine a mud tyre designed in Minecraft. Here you go! This is the most aggressive tyre in Conti’s range. Tapered and supported knob elements are designed to ease the interaction between stud and soil. Benefit: High mechanical grip and superb self-cleaning properties. Supersoft BlackChili Gravity compound. DH casing: 4-ply (110TPI) sidewall, 6-ply (110 TPI) under the tread.

Specialized 3.1 Over the Air Motor Update

No doubt inspired by The Avinox Effect, this update to the latest Levo 4 eMTBs does not require a trip to the nearest Specialized dealer. You can do this yourself on your phone via the Specialized app. What does the update give you? S-Works models gain 18% peak power (up to 850W at the motor) while holding 111Nm torque. All other models gain 22% peak power (up to 810W at the motor) with torque boosted to 105Nm. Plus: updated Microtune, “smoother max speed transition”, “sharper overrun behaviour” and a “personalised walk mode”.

Bad Decisions Heavyweight Long Sleeve Tee

Thicker than your average tee but not quite a sweatshirt. Business in the front and party in the back.

Stale Goods Friday – 2013 Turner Burner

Back int day we writ: “Dave’s only just unpacked from Garda and now he’s off to Finale, for another gelato fuelled bike trip. This time he’ll be riding this stealthed up 140mm and 27.5 Turner Burner. The 44mm headtube and gusseting makes for a stiff front end with the option to run a zero stack headset to keep everything nice and low. Traction and anti bob courtesy of the dw link back end. Refined using maths by Dave Weagle for optimum pivot placement.”

A young man in profile, wearing a black jacket with a red and white patterned neck scarf, a cap with a logo, and sunglasses, against a textured wooden background.

185cm tall. 73kg weight. Orange Switch 6er. Saracen Ariel Eeber. Schwalbe Magic Mary. Maxxis DHR II. Coil fan.
