As Los Angeles Dodgers fans count down the days until Opening Day 2026, there are plenty of events and activities going on around the city for fans to enjoy with their families, friends or even solo this weekend.
There are multiple cultural events happening this weekend that will embrace culture and community with vibrant celebrations for Black History Month, Mardi Gras, and Lunar New Year

Music & Arts

Location(s): Landmark Sunset Hollywood, DGA Theater Complex
The Slamdance Film Festival will spotlight emerging filmmakers from around the world, featuring 141 films, including 50 world premiere and representing more than 50 countries. The 2026 lineup was selected from 10,000 submissions, with 28 percent coming from Los Angeles-area filmmakers.
This will be the second year Slamdance Film Festival is celebrated in Los Angeles. In addition to the film lineup, the festival will include community events such as Market Monday on Feb. 23.

Lizzo is taking the Blue Note stage three nights in a row this weekend. There will be a full bar and food menu available, with a $20 minimum spending budget per person. This is a 21+ event.

Date: Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 6:30 pm
Location: LA Memorial Coliseum
This is one of the most anticipated 2026 MLS season openers happening this weekend, between LAFC and Inter Miami. Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi, who is arguably the most decorated soccer player in history, is expected to play on Saturday with the reigning MLS Cup champions against LAFC.

Conquer the Spartan Stadion Race at Dodger Stadium this weekend, which features 20 different obstacles across a 5k race. Race finishers will receive a medal and finisher T-shirt. For a chance to participate in the event for free, check out volunteer options on the official Spartan website.

Celebrate the start of the Year of the Horse at the 127th Annual Golden Dragon Parade hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles this Saturday. From cultural performances like the Lion Dance to fun traditions like the lucky red envelopes, there are multiple opportunities to celebrate Lunar New Year this weekend.
Parade Route: Hill Street at Temple toward Bernard. Right on Bernard, right on Broadway back to Broadway & Temple. Runs from 1-4pm.

Location: Benny Boy Brewing – 1821 Daly St. Los Angeles, CA 90031

Experience a taste of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras on Saturday at Benny Boy Brewing. There will be five-piece live jazz band, king cake, and a crawfish boil by Crawdaddy Boiler along with a pet parade. This is a 21+ event, and admission is free.

Comedian Brandon Collins is hosting a Drunk Black History show at The Elysian Theater on Saturday. A group of drunk comedians, writers and experts will tell the biography of a historical Black figure or event that many people have not heard about it. This event will put a fun twist on learning about important figures and events in history.
