The Las Vegas Aviators – Dutch Baseball Hangout

Also the Las Vegas Aviators have released new new secondary and cap logos. Logos that highlight aspects of their hometown’s connection to aviation.

When the team adopted a new name in 2019, the year they moved into their new Las Vegas Ballpark, the moniker could be easily explained. The Aviators’ nickname was an homage to eccentric investor, Hollywood mogul, philanthropist, engineer, and record-setting pilot Howard Hughes. Also the club was owned by the Howard Hughes Corporation.

But in 2024, the club got a “different” owner: Seaport Entertainment Group, a spinoff of Howard Hughes Holdings. And with the direct link between the Howard Hughes Corporation and the Aviators gone, it was time for some new secondary and alternate (cap) logos.

The first cap, an alternate 1 cap, is an orange one with a navy lid, depicting a fighter pilot helmet with baseball stitches across. Some landmark buildings of the Las Vegas Strip are mirrored in the visor of the helmet: The Stratosphere Tower (now the Strat), New York, New York, Luxor and something that could be Treasure Island but also the Mirage (unlikely though, since that hotel is about to be demolished), the Monte Carlo Hotel, and Mandalay Bay.

The second alternate cap (very fitting, the Alternate 2) is a navy cap with a white front and an orange lid, depicting an H1-racer flying through an A. The H1-racer was built in 1935 by the Howard Hughes Corporation.

A third cap with a new logo is the new batting practice cap, showing the Aviators’ mascot Spruce the Goose swinging a bat. The cap is navy with an orange front.

The iconic LV logo, mirroring the mountains of neighboring Red Rock Canyon will remain the main cap logo.
