An interview with Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is resurfacing and drawing attention during the team’s NFL offseason.
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears are officially in the offseason, and their next big event is the NFL draft is set for April 24 through 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, at Lambeau Field.
Before the draft, though, there’s one more event that’s drawing plenty of eyeballs: the NFL Scouting Combine. This four-day, invitation-only event allows NFL scouts to get an up-close look at the top draft-eligible college players of the season on medical, mental and physical criteria. It’s limited to roughly 300 players each year.
“In addition to testing the players, the event tests the members of each NFL team’s personnel department as they make decisions that will shape the future of their franchise,” the NFL states on their official website. “The combine draws national attention as fans and media alike watch and speculate who will be drafted and where they will go.”
Just a few years ago, Williams was a part of the NFL Combine. It’s where he impressed the powers at the Chicago Bears enough to have them sign him as their No. 1 draft pick and make him the team’s franchise quarterback. Now, an interview from Williams at that event is resurfacing and drawing attention.
Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams’ Vintage Interview Pops Up
On Friday, February 20, the Chicago Bears took to social media to highlight their franchise quarterback’s interview at the NFL Scouting Combine from 2024. In the clip, Williams is strong, and his words ring real today. So, this vintage clip is drawing attention for all the right reasons.
“I think I’m a fierce competitor,” Williams says in the clip. “I hate losing, and so I think the guys can feel that when I speak in practice, when I speak to them, how I play, how I work out.”
Followers were quick to give Williams props for his interview. “Finally, we don’t have to think about getting a quarterback,” one said. “He wants to win and be great. Got to love that,” another added.
“That’s my glorious franchise quarterback and future MVP,” one more said. “His voice kind of reminds me of Walter Payton here. I hear that soft spoken confidence,” another added.
Williams certainly delivered in the 2025-26 season. He led the team to the playoffs and helped make them the No. 1 team in the NFC North with an 11-6 record.
NFL History as Chicago Bears Gear Up for 2025 NFL Combine and Draft
As for some NFL Combine history, as the league’s official website explains, until the 1970s, teams typically didn’t give physical exams to college players in the draft. But, in 1976, the New York Jets invited college seniors to team headquarters for physicals and interviews. That started the process of what eventually became today’s NFL Combine.
“This groundswell of interest has catapulted the annual NFL Scouting Combine into the spotlight. Today, three decades after the first invitational camp, the event is a mainstay of the NFL offseason,” the NFL states.
Amid the offseason, the Chicago Bears are taking to social media to continue to honor their quarterback. In one post shared on social media, the team calls Williams “The Iceman Mixtape,” with photos and video of Williams throughout the season. So, yes, Williams is getting love this offseason.
