MVP Calls Out Triple H for Overt Racism in WrestleMania Build With Booker T

MVP recently brought attention to the infamous Triple H vs. Booker T storyline leading into WrestleMania 19, criticizing the racist elements that were used during the feud. The 2003 build remains one of the most controversial in WWE history, and MVP is speaking out about why such tactics are no longer acceptable in modern wrestling.

On the Marking Out podcast, MVP addressed the promo between Triple H and Booker T, where Triple H made derogatory comments about Booker, leading to widespread criticism. MVP explained that using racism as a way to generate heat is not effective anymore and has no place in the industry today.

“Racist characters now, they’re not good for you. And, you know, I always go in on Triple H and how I don’t like him or respect him, but if you look at that promo that he cut on Booker T going into WrestleMania, it was this overt racism.”

MVP went further, questioning why anyone would want to present such a character.

“I don’t know why anybody would, especially in modern times, would want to present their character as an overt racist. I don’t know what that does for you, especially in these modern times in terms of heat, when we all know it’s entertainment. It makes me wonder what motivates you… I don’t know. I just think that that doesn’t go well.”

MVP’s comments bring light to how wrestling has evolved, and he stressed that relying on outdated, harmful storylines like racism for heat can be damaging both to the industry and to the people involved. While Booker T has said he doesn’t harbor any personal resentment over the match outcome, the storyline remains a point of debate in wrestling.

MVP’s remarks prompt a crucial question: should wrestling leave behind these outdated storylines and move forward with more responsible, modern storytelling?
