Well, it was No. 99 himself, who tells the Toronto Sun he’s having the time of his life in Italy.

When he spotted it, the NHL’s all-time points leader — at these games as a fan — decided to leave a message.
“Go Canada Go. 2026.”
It’s nail-biting time for the whole country as it was for Team Canada the past two games. The Canadians pulled through in overtime in the quarterfinal before winning the semifinal against Finland on a goal in the last minute on Friday.
You could see the nervousness on both Gretzky and Mark Messier’s faces.
“Wayne was so nervous he couldn’t sit any more and had to walk around,” said a friend.
And those nerves are mounting as the hockey word anticipates what is expected to be the most watched game ever Sunday morning.

“Ya it’s unreal here,” said Gretzky, who is there with “my 3 boys” having a “great time.”
He’s not there with a network or company. He merely took his kids over to cheer on Canada.
But the focus is on the game between Canada and the U.S., which everybody realizes could go either way.
That said, Gretzky, who fell short as a player at the 1998 Olympic Games but managed the 2002 team to gold in Salt Lake City, knows it won’t be easy.
However, like millions of Canadian fans, he will be cheering on the red and white for this expected Olympic classic.
