Eva Marie had a hilarious way of explaining how the ‘you can’t wrestle’ chants affected her during her time in WWE.
Former WWE Superstar Eva Marie was a recent guest on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast. During the conversation, she addressed the “You can’t wrestle” chants she faced during her time with the company. She hilariously responded that she indeed didn’t know how to wrestle because she was still learning at that point, and that she even asked Vince McMahon to send her back to NXT so she could learn to wrestle properly. She also revealed that there was some animosity between her and some members of the women’s locker room.
“At first, it affected me so much because I’m like, ‘Yeah, no sh*t I can’t fuc*ing wrestle. Duh!’ I just learned, and I’m learning,” Eva Marie began. “But I think because it would bother me to the core, and that’s also why I ended up asking Vince to go back to NXT, because I wanted to learn how to wrestle and really have that confidence within myself. Also, it was a two-fold thing where I think me doing that also gained respect from my peers, because they got to see a different side of me than what they had perceived.
“I think time always reveals the truth of an individual or someone’s character, and that’s why all of the things worked itself out. There’s no beef amongst myself with any of the girls. I actually get along with all of them really well. Now, at one moment in time, I couldn’t say that. I was like, ‘Oh my God, these bit*hes fuc*ing hate me!’ Like legitimately. I did not hate them because I think hate is way too harsh of a word. But I definitely despised them where I was like, ‘Back the fu*k up. Let me breathe,” Eva Marie said.
Eva Marie credits several WWE personalities for helping her
Speaking further, Eva Marie noted that she felt bad when fans used to boo her during the shows. However, she credited names like Bayley, Tyler Breeze, and NXT trainer Norman Smiley for having her back and making her understand that heel wrestlers would do anything to get a reaction like that.
“But at the same time, because I am such a competitive person and I understand a locker room, I could understand the animosity as well.” Eva Marie continued. “Then on top of that, I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m getting annihilated from a locker room standpoint, but then also the universe standpoint. Going out into the arena, I didn’t realize until like, shout out to Norman Smiley, shout out to Tyler Breeze, and Bayley.
“I always give them some love because I had a really hard time at first. I would walk out of arenas, and my a*s would be booed out of that place like crazy. I would always wonder like, ‘Oh my God, this is so horrible. But they always checked me, like, ‘No, that is everything. Do you realize that any heel character would die for that?” Eva Marie said.
