Texas A&M remains undefeated after a weekend of stellar pitching

Texas A&M finished off a sweep of the Penn Quakers on Sunday with a 7-1 victory. Aiden Sims pitched 7 innings with 3 hits and 10Ks and no walks.

The Aggies needed walk off wins in the first two games of the weekend. This was the first series of the season for Penn due to the Ivy League starting their season a week later than most conferences. Make no mistake about it, Penn is a good baseball program. They have made the NCAA Tournament two of the last three seasons.

Texas A&M Starting pitching:

Friday starter, Caden Sorrell, went 7 innings, with 7Ks, 0 walks, and 3 hits and 0 runs.

Saturday starter Weston Moss went 6.0 innings with 8Ks, no walks and 1 run.

Injuries:

The 24th ranked Aggies are still undefeated on the season. However, on Sunday, they found themselves without Caden Sorrell, Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan in the lineup on Sunday. Injuries are one of the reasons Texas A&M failed to make the postseason last year after starting off the season ranked number one in most preseason polls.

Caden Sorrel received stiches in his hand after being hit with a spike in Friday’s game. Chris Hacopian is day to day with a stiff back. Hacopian has not played since the second game of the season. Wesley Jordan appeared to be walking gingerly after an at bat late in Saturday’s extra inning win.

The offense:

Terrence Kiel has a hit in all seven games for Texas A&M this season. He is hitting .440 Avg and has a .500 on base percentage.

Gavin Grahovac is hitting .357 Avg and has a .457 on base percentage. Nico Partida leads the Aggies with three homeruns on the season.

What’s next?

The Aggies will take on Lamar on Tuesday in College Station, before traveling to Globe life Field to play in the Amegy College Baseball Series. They will face Virgina Tech on Friday. On Saturday they will take on the number 1 ranked UCLA Bruins, before finishing up against Arizona State on Sunday.
