More specifically, the ‘In her corner’ will be named after Laura Muller, Esteban Ocon’s race engineer and the first woman in Formula 1 history to hold such a role, as well as Hannah Schmitz, Red Bull’s Principal Strategy Engineer and now a familiar face in the paddock.

“The ‘In Her Corner’ initiative promotes the importance of ‘if you can see it, you can be it,’” Mueller said. “To be a part of this acknowledgement so early on in my Formula 1 career is an honour, and I hope it motivates girls and young adults to pursue a career in STEM.”

“I was always curious about how things work and loved cars,” Schmitz added. “For me, it has been an absolute honour to represent the team on the podium.”

Finally, Katherine Richards, Engineers Australia Chief Engineer, went on to add: “In Her Corner celebrates the talent, leadership and drive of two engineers who are redefining what’s possible, not just in Formula 1, but across engineering, technology and business.”

The Australian Grand Prix, as has often been the case since 1996, will once again serve as the season opener in Melbourne — just as it did last year — after Bahrain had held that role in recent seasons.

The event, set to take place over the weekend of 6–8 March, will also coincide with International Women’s Day on the Sunday, alongside the race itself.
