Daniel Cormier praises Sean Strickland following UFC Houston victory

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has praised Sean Strickland’s performance in his win at UFC Houston last weekend.

On Saturday night, Sean Strickland picked up his most impressive win in recent memory when he defeated Anthony Hernandez in the main event of UFC Houston. While he had a pretty controversial week outside of that as a result of his comments in the media, he reminded everyone that he’s actually a pretty good fighter, too.

Now, many are wondering what exactly is going to be next for Strickland. Some feel like a title shot is almost inevitable, especially given both his name value and the feud he’s been gradually building opposite current middleweight king Khamzat Chimaev.

In a recent video, Daniel Cormier gave his thoughts on how Strickland performed and what’s next for him.

Cormier’s view on Strickland’s big UFC Houston win

“Can Sean defend Khamzat to the point where he doesn’t get ridden out and taken down and controlled for 25 minutes? I don’t know that but I’ll tell you one thing that I do know. If that guy that showed up tonight shows up in that fight, it will be much more difficult a fight for the great Khamzat Chimaev,” Cormier said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Why? Because even Israel Adesanya at the peak of his powers struggled with that version of Sean Strickland. The Dricus Du Plessis fight, it didn’t seem like Sean was locked all the way in. He seemed a little messed up and it showed… He didn’t look the same but tonight he looked the same. He looked like the guy that became a world champion.”
