This Week in Golf Fashion: Three Things From Riviera

A free agent finding his fashion stride, a Tour full of players leaning hard into neutrals, and a crossover capsule that proves premium sport is still gaining ground. The week at Riviera felt like a snapshot of where golf style is headed.

Free Agent Tommy Is the Best Dressed Tommy

Tommy Fleetwood is to golf apparel free agency what Steph Curry is to sneaker free agency. Since splitting with Nike at the beginning of the year, Tommy-lad has been on an absolute style heater, and his week in LA was his best showing yet. From an early-week range session in Malbon to a water-logged opening round in Sun Day Red’s Rhythm Striped Cashmere Crew to the weekend in Students Golf polos, he pulled up to Riviera with a suitcase full of sick fits.

It is also safe to say that Fleetwood pro shops harder than anyone. At Pebble Beach, he walked into the merch tent and walked out looking like he bought one of everything. Riviera got the same treatment. Hats. Hoodies. Stacks on stacks. Earlier this season, he was spotted in a Masters polo in Dubai, casually flexing one of the most exclusive logos in golf. That is a serious collection of crests building in his closet.

Here’s hoping the Tommy apparel free agency era never ends.

The Zone of Neutrality

Tour fashion has entered the Zone of Neutrality with players pairing beige with a whole lot of beige. Friday in LA felt like a coordinated Beige Out, especially when Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Collin Morikawa stepped onto the first tee looking like they shared a group chat dedicated to taupe.

Neutrals are hot right now. No question. Earth tones photograph well, feel modern, and nod to the wider menswear shift toward quiet luxury. But golf has been here before. At the turn of the century, khaki overload turned golf fashion into a punchline.

If you are leaning into neutrals this spring, here is the move. Create separation. Mix shades. Play with fabric. A flat stone trouser with a textured knit up top. A creamy polo against a darker sand pant. Contrast is what keeps it sharp. Flat, head-to-toe monotone reads washed out and forgettable. In other words, take notes from Rory or Sam Burns, who understand balance.

Rickie is the Reigning Champ

When Puma Golf teams up with Reigning Champ, we pay attention. The Canadian label built its name refining athletic basics into something elevated, and this latest capsule carries that DNA straight onto the course.

Rickie Fowler wasted no time rolling it out under the bright lights of LA. The collection pulls from football culture as much as golf, blending performance pieces with a training-ground edge. Polos, tees, joggers, training shorts. Desert Dust sets the tonal base, while Zen Blue punches through with energy. The graphics are bold without tipping into crazy.

Rickie leaned heavily into the hoodies, polos, and hats throughout the week, styling them in a way that felt cool, casual, and authentic. These pieces work on the course, at the pub after the round, or layered into a city fit.

Premium sport is having a moment. When it is done like this, it’s a reminder that golf style keeps borrowing from the broader landscape and doing it well.
