It appears one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the NFL is being viewed as an option for the New York Jets as Derek Carr is “absolutely being discussed as an option” under center in 2026. Gang Green reportedly believes they can lure Carr to New York “if they put on the full court press”.
This, according to beat writer Chris Nimbley of JetsInsider, who appeared on the Play Like a Jet podcast today on an episode that will be available tomorrow morning. Nimbley claims that two different sources inside the building have told him that this is the case.
Given how few quality options there are for the Jets at quarterback this offseason, they would be silly not to explore the possibility of adding Carr, who had significant interest in becoming a Jet three years ago when the team opted instead to add Aaron Rodgers in a move that blew up in their collective faces.
Now, with no viable signal caller on the roster, an extremely thin draft and free agent class, the Jets may end up looking at Derek Carr once again as a trade option from the Saints, where compensation may not be all that much with New Orleans likely to be happy to unload the veteran.
