Quarterfinal spots at the Acapulco ATP 500 will be handed out on Wednesday, when top seed Alexander Zverev continues his campaign against Miomir Kecmanovic. Terence Atmane and Rafael Jodar are also in action.

(1) Alexander Zverev vs. Miomir Kecmanovic

Zverev and Kecmanovic will be squaring off for the fourth time in their careers when they meet in round two of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel on Wednesday. The head-to-head series stands at 2-1 in favor of Zverev, who prevailed at the 2020 Paris Masters and the 2023 Chengdu ATP 250. Kecmanovic won their first encounter 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-4 at the 2019 Cincinnati Masters.

Although Zverev’s recent trips to Acapulco have been a struggle, he generally enjoys this tournament. The fourth-ranked German is 15-5 lifetime with a title in 2021 and a runner-up effort in 2019. He kicked off this week with a 6-2, 6-4 rout of Corentin Moutet on Monday. Kecmanovic eased past Tristan Schoolkate 6-2, 6-2, but the 84th-ranked Serb is just 4-6 this season and 5-5 all time in Acapulco. Zverev should secure a place in the quarterfinals without too much trouble.

Terence Atmane vs. (WC) Rafael Jodar

Here comes Jodar…. The 19-year-old is up to No. 114 in the world and he will break into the top 100 for the first time if he wins on Wednesday. Jodar’s recent rise on the pro tour following a year of college at Virginia includes an upset of Learner Tien at the 2025 NextGen ATP Finals, a second-round Australian Open appearance as a qualifier, successful qualification in Dallas, and a second-round result in Delray Beach. The Spaniard maintained momentum with a 6-3, 6-2 beatdown of Cameron Norrie on Monday in Acapulco.

Up next for Jodar is a first-ever matchup with Atmane, who needs some momentum in the worst way. The 63rd-ranked Frenchman has not done anything since his miraculous run to the Cincinnati Masters semifinals this past summer. He won only one more main-draw match in 2025 and is off to a 2-4 start to this season, although he did well to beat Grigor Dimitrov on Tuesday. The lefty can be dangerous at times, but Jodar is the much more confident player right now.

Pick: Jodar in 3
