The CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 is set.
Seven MLS clubs advanced out of February’s playoff round while Inter Miami and Seattle Sounders will enter the competition in the Round of 16. There will be two All-MLS ties in the next round with Cascadia Cup rivals Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps squaring off in one of the headlining matchups
Vancouver, the reigning Western Conference Champions, edged C.S. Cartagines 2-0 on aggregate in the playoff round.
Reigning MLS Cup winners Inter Miami will take on Nashville SC in the latest showdown between the two clubs. The Herons eliminated Nashville SC in last season’s league playoffs while also ousting them in the 2024 Champions Cup tournament.
LAFC will face off with Costa Rican side Alajuelense after rolling past Real Espana 7-1 on aggregate in the playoff round. Denis Bouanga registered a hat trick while four additional players scored goals in the series.
The Philadelphia Union rolled past Defence Force FC of Trinidad & Tobago by a 12-0 aggregate scoreline and will next face off with Club America in the Round of 16. Club America last faced the Union during the 2021 Champions League, eliminating them 4-0 on aggregate.
FC Cincinnati has one of the toughest ties in the Round of 16 after being paired up against Liga MX powerhouse Tigres. Pat Noonan’s squad rolled past O&M FC 13-0 last round while Tigres defeated Forge FC 4-1 over two legs.
San Diego FC will face off against Mexican opposition for the second-consecutive round, meeting Toluca. Mikey Varas’ squad defeated Pumas 4-2 over two legs, with four different players finding the back of the net.
The LA Galaxy barely scraped past Panamanian side Sporting San Miguelito on the away goal tiebreaker. The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in Panama before a goal-less second leg draw in Carson, California on Wednesday.
Up next for the Galaxy is a two-legged series with Jamaican club Mount Pleasant FC.
In the only other Round of 16 matchup, Liga MX sides Monterrey and Cruz Azul will square off.
The Round of 16 will begin on March 11 and conclude on March 19.
