The mystery of WWE’s masked man was finally revealed on the February 27, 2026, episode of WWE SmackDown. But instead of shocking fans in a good way, the moment was only met with disappointment.
Before SmackDown even actually started, it was revealed that Jey Uso had been attacked backstage by someone unknown and was taken away in an ambulance. WWE later confirmed he wasn’t medically cleared to compete in the Elimination Chamber match, which left an open spot.
Paul Heyman then came out and pushed Logan Paul as Uso’s replacement. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis spoke with RAW GM Adam Pearce and decided Paul would get the spot only if he beat Jacob Fatu in the main event.
The match happened. Fatu dominated early and looked focused on getting revenge on Drew McIntyre. Paul had some moments, but none of them were enough.
Then came the interference. Paul distracted the referee so Theory could attack Fatu at ringside. Heyman created another opening, and Logan Paul hit a low blow. During the chaos, a masked man ran in and attacked Theory at the ringside.
Fans React to Conclusion of Weeks-Long Mystery Angle
Logan Paul pulled off the mask and revealed someone most viewers didn’t recognize. Security immediately removed him, and the confusion continued. Later, Paul won the match thanks to Drew McIntyre’s interference. But viewers were still stuck on the masked man.
However, instead of excitement, many were disappointed.
Social media immediately went into raptures with criticism aimed at WWE. Some felt the reveal didn’t make sense. Others thought Triple H had simply dropped the storyline in a rushed manner, as his original plans might not have worked after Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker’s hospitalization.
This is either the start of a big conspiracy angle where there are multiple imposter masked man’s that that builds up to the true masked man reveal… or Triple H just said “fuck it” after Bronson got injured and decided to drop it anticlimactically hoping everyone will forget it. https://t.co/IMtk9zeDJY

Uhhh can we talk about “the masked man” for a second? Was that their way of burying that dead end angle, by putting some jobber under the mask who just runs off into the sunset? Creative, you’ve gotta be fuckin kidding me with that?! #SmackDown

After weeks of buildup since the Royal Rumble, fans expected a massive surprise or major return. Instead, they got a relatively unknown name.
Later, FadeAwayMedia on X confirmed the masked attacker was Don Furio, who is an independent wrestler trained by Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and QT Marshall at the Black and Brave Wrestling Academy.
THE MASKED MAN IS ACTUALLY ONE OF SETH ROLLINS BLACK AND BRAVE STUDENTS

The masked man had first appeared at the Royal Rumble 2026, attacking Bron Breakker with Rollins’ Curb Stomp. Since then, many fans thought the man was Rollins himself, who is currently out of action due to a shoulder injury.
But revealing the man to be his protégé could be related to his “Curb Stomp” attacks, and WWE might find a way to make it all make sense somehow, or this might actually be a disappointing end to the whole buildup.
