In today’s gaming climate its always assumed that new video game titles will be released on the newest and most up-to-date system. It’s already been confirmed that Pokemon Pokopia is set to release for the Nintendo Switch 2. While it’s a lesser optimized console, will there also be a Pokémon Pokopia Switch 1 release, or will gamers be forced to upgrade and purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 in order to play?
Is Pokopia On The Switch 1?
The answer to this simple question is yes and no. But we’re going to be leaning on the no side. To explain, in Pokemon Pokopedia, gamers can use a special feature called Gameshare. This means that even if players don’t own an actual copy of Pokopia, they can still be invited by friends to visit islands. So no Pokopia is natively made for the Nintendo Switch 1, and if anybody wishes to play the full game title must purchase a Nintendo Switch 2.

New Pokémon in Pokopia
Currently, only 3 new Pokémon have been confirmed for when this title launches on March 5th, 2026. While they’re only different variations, here are the three new Pokémon making their debut in Pokopia
“A pale Pikachu whose fur is a mysterious color. Its drooping ears somehow make it seem a little feeble.”
“Moss has grown all over this Snorlax’s body, and it looks like a flower is blooming atop its head. It must have been asleep for a really long time…”
“A Smeargle with vibrant colors splattered across its body, it goes by the name Smearguru. When it uses its tail as a brush, it almost looks like a painter!”
