In Resident Evil Requiem, you play as dual protagonists, the timid Grace Ashcroft and the determined Leon Kennedy. Despite being interconnected, they can be experienced from two different perspectives: first-person and third-person. But which one is best, and should you change it up for each character? We have the answer to that question here!
At the start of the game, you are prompted with having Grace’s sections be first-person and Leon’s in third-person for the ‘ultimate experience’. However, these can be changed at any time during the game, so you have free rein to switch them up.
Best Way to Play Resident Evil Requiem – First or Third Person?
We’ve played the whole game and tried all ways. Ultimately, the way the developers intended, Grace in first-person and Leon in third-person, is the best way to play it. With Grace, the intensity and fear factor go up a notch when in first-person perspective. Plus, you’ll notice a lot more in the environment and be more aware. For Leon, the action feels more suited for third, as going into first does give off some Call of Duty vibes.
Third-Person Gameplay Feels More Like The Remakes/Original Games
If you choose third-person, expect the gameplay to feel more reminiscent of the remakes and original games. Taking an over-the-shoulder viewpoint, you’ll be able to see everything around in your environment, as well as whoever you are playing as. Of course, the combat/experience differs for each person (Grace is still stealth, as Leon is with action). As some sequences do have third-person viewpoints, such as when a character struggles against a zombie, it is much more seamless.
First-Person Gameplay Feels Like Resident Evil 7/Village
Meanwhile, if you choose first-person, the gameplay will be more like Resident Evil 7 and Village. You’ll only see in front of you, but notice more in the area, like certain files and perhaps ammo. It’s the most immersive viewpoint, as you really do feel like you’re in the action. Still, whenever the character performs a certain action, like Grace struggling with a zombie or Leon doing a melee attack, it shifts to third-person until said action is done.
Still, it’s up to you on how you want to play Resident Evil Requiem. Either way, you’re in for quite the treat (and spook, if you prefer).
