Zhuri James shows mad handles in front of LeBron and surprises the Lakers

There was plenty of attention on the matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center, but before tipoff, the spotlight briefly shifted to a different kind of highlight.

LeBron James shared the floor with his 11-year-old daughter, Zhuri James, during pregame warmups, and the moment quickly became one of the most talked-about scenes of the night. While LeBron prepared for another nationally televised game, Zhuri showcased impressive ball-handling skills and sound basketball fundamentals that drew smiles from players, coaches and arena staff.

Zhuri, who is primarily known for her success in volleyball, looked comfortable with a basketball in her hands. She dribbled along the baseline, mirroring her father’s warmup routine, and moved confidently into shooting drills around the key.

It comes natural for Zhuri

At one point, she stood at the free-throw line with her back to the basket, attempting a backward shot. After several tries and some light instruction from her dad, she banked it in. When asked about the make, she responded simply, saying she tried to make sure she was lined up in front of the basket.

LeBron later told reporters that moments like this are rare during the season, especially on the road. He described Zhuri as a good-luck charm and noted that this trip marked one of the few times she had joined him away from home outside of All-Star festivities.

Although basketball is not her primary sport, he pointed out that she has been around the game her entire life and has developed a solid handle and proper shooting form. Before heading back to the locker room, the two capped the shootaround with a memorable sequence. Zhuri tossed an alley-oop pass toward the rim, and LeBron finished it with a dunk to applause from those watching. They followed it with a handshake and a quick exchange of “love you” before he went to complete his pregame routine.

LeBron and the Lakers beat the Warriors

The energy appeared to carry into the game. LeBron got off to a strong start, knocking down seven of his first 10 shots and hitting all four of his three-point attempts in the first half. By halftime, he had added four assists and four rebounds, helping the Lakers build a 65-47 lead. With Stephen Curry sidelined for the 10th consecutive game due to injury, the Warriors struggled to keep pace.

LeBron finished with 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in a 129-101 win. Afterward, he reflected on how meaningful the trip had been, acknowledging that his 23-year career has required sacrifices and time away from family. Spending time with Zhuri on the road, including sightseeing around San Francisco the night before the game, offered a different kind of reward.

For fans in attendance and those watching nationally, the game delivered a decisive result. But the image that lingered was of a father and daughter sharing the court, with Zhuri confidently dribbling and shooting under the bright lights, and LeBron balancing his role as one of the NBA‘s biggest stars with being a proud parent.
