Former WWE Star Quietly Signed With AEW After Contract Expired

Ashante “Thee” Adonis didn’t stay on the free agent market for long.

The former WWE star, real name Tehuti Miles, is officially under contract with AEW — and the deal apparently flew under the radar for months.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that Miles signed with All Elite Wrestling during the first week of September, less than a month after his WWE contract expired on August 10. Despite the signing happening months ago, he only recently surfaced publicly at the March 1 Ring of Honor tapings.

That timeline raised eyebrows. Unlike many former WWE talents who test the waters on the independent scene before locking in another national deal, Miles reportedly didn’t take that route. In fact, some were surprised he didn’t work indie dates at all before showing up in the AEW/ROH system — especially since AEW has been more selective recently about signing talent straight from WWE.

There was also quiet speculation that TNA Wrestling could pursue Miles, particularly after fellow Hit Row member AJ Francis found success there. However, there were no confirmed talks between Miles and TNA before he finalized his AEW agreement.

Now that he’s officially All Elite and already appearing at ROH tapings, the focus shifts to how AEW plans to use him. With Ring of Honor establishing Jacksonville as its new home base and building out a more consistent studio-style product, Miles could factor into that roster sooner rather than later.

Will Ashante “Thee” Adonis break out under the AEW banner, or was there a bigger opportunity elsewhere? Sound off below.
