Arsenal restored their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win over London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Defender William Saliba put the hosts in front at The Emirates, bundling in from a corner.

The Blues levelled things up in first half added time, though, when Piero Hincapie put through his own net, with the equaliser also coming from a corner.

Jurrien Timber restored Mikel Arteta’s side’s lead midway through the second half, with the Gunners once again scoring from a corner as the Dutchman headed past Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea were then reduced to ten men moments later when Pedro Neto was shown a second yellow for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli, shortly after picking up his first warning for dissent in the wake of Timber’s goal.

The result leaves Chelsea sixth in the Premier League table, and Liam Rosenior’s side are now six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the race to qualify for the Champions League.

Away from the action, it appears that both Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in a highly rated Ligue 1 teenager.

As per CaughtOffside, both the Gunners and the Blues are monitoring Paris St-Germain midfielder Senny Mayulu amid uncertainty surrounding the player’s future.

It is claimed that talks between the youngster and the French champions over a new contract have stalled, which is creating uncertainty surrounding his future and also attracting the attention of other clubs.

The report claims that the two London sides are joined by Manchester City in keeping tabs on the 19-year-old’s situation, while Tottenham Hotspur had hoped to sign the teenager last summer.

Both Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also said to have made informal approaches in regard to the midfielder, who is viewed by Arsenal as a potential long-term successor to Kai Havertz.

Mayulu is contracted to PSG until the end of the 2026/27 campaign and the French side are said to be determined not to lose him for free, with the report suggesting that the Ligue 1 champions will open negotiations over a sale at a fee of around £52 million.
