Sai Sudharsan all set to feature for Surrey in this County season

Sai Sudharsan is back playing for Surrey in the current County Championship. The left-handed batsman will be ready for the game against Lancashire, which begins on Thursday (August 22) at the Kennington Oval in London. Surrey will also have Sai’s help in the game against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

In June, Sai played just one match for Surrey against Essex at the KIA Oval, scoring 14 and 12 runs. In July, he made his debut in T20 international cricket for the Indian men’s team during their tour of Zimbabwe. Last year, Sai was part of the Surrey team that won the County Championship Division One title.

The upcoming games for Surrey will help Sai prepare for the Duleep Trophy, which begins on September 5 in Bengaluru and Anantapur. He will be playing for the C Team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Sai was selected to play for India after his impressive performance for the Gujarat Titans in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). He was the highest run-scorer for the 2022 champions, scoring 527 runs in 12 innings with an average of 47.90 and a strike rate of 141.28.

He also scored his first IPL century against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sai has also done well in first-class cricket, with 1144 runs in 18 matches, including three centuries and four fifties.

Surrey has performed very well this season, leading the standings with 157 points, which they earned by winning six of their nine games. They are aiming to claim their third consecutive County Championship title.
