Korean esports organisation Gen.G has won yet another domestic trophy, dominating BNK FearX in the grand final of the LCK Cup 2026.
Despite Gen.G walking away victorious, both teams will now head to First Stand, the first international tournament of the year, starting March 16th.
- G2 Esports wins LEC Versus Final, will represent EMEA at First Stand 2026
- LYON crowned 2026 LCS Lock-In champion
- League of Legends Patch 26.4 sets the stage for First Stand
Despite BNK FearX’s strong performance in the lower bracket final against Dplus Kia on the previous day, the team couldn’t withstand Gen.G’s power, with the latter closing out the series with a clean 3-0 record. The entire finals lasted less than 85 minutes of combined game time.
BNK FearX’s bot lane duo of Nam ‘Diable‘ Dae-geun and Kim ‘Kellin‘ Hyeong-gyu, who have been the team’s shining stars since the start of the season, in particular struggled to find openings against Gen.G’s bot lane of Park ‘Ruler‘ Jae-hyuk and Joo ‘Duro‘ Min-kyu. This made it impossible for BNK FearX to execute its gameplan.
Moreover, Gen.G’s top side trio of jungler Kim ‘Canyon‘ Geon-bu, top laner Kim ‘Kiin‘ Ki-in, and mid laner Jeong ‘Chovy‘ Ji-hoon continued to showcase why they are regarded by some as the best in their respective positions.
In particular, Canyon had an outstanding series, accelerating the game for his team in every single series and earning the Finals MVP award. Chovy also had an impressive day, nailing a deathless 25 KDA score. Based on recent performances, Gen.G appears to be the favourite heading into First Stand.
LCK Cup Finals Takes a Viewership Hit
The 2026 LCK Cup Finals marked a major milestone for the organisers, bringing the event abroad to take place at the Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong.
That said, T1’s absence at the event had negative repercussions on final day viewership, with only 695,410 peak viewers, according to data platform Esports Charts, tuning in. This marks a major decrease from the peak of 1.5m viewers achieved earlier in the LCK Cup, which, to no one’s surprise, featured T1 in the elimination series against Dplus Kia.
This also marks the first time the LEC has surpassed the LCK in finals viewership, as 732,781 people tuned into the grand final between G2 and Karmine Corp. While the LCK’s average viewership is still higher than the LEC’s (432,458 compared to 317,286), it’s a clear sign that the LCK continues to be dependent on the presence of the most decorated team in the world.
