WWE Considered Changes To Danhausen’s Character Before Crate Debut

Danhausen’s WWE arrival was always in motion — but not every detail was locked in without discussion.

A new update from Fightful Select confirms that while Danhausen was expected to use his established name and gimmick in WWE, there were internal pitches for possible changes before his Elimination Chamber debut.

According to WWE sources, the plan was “pretty well always” for him to keep the Danhausen name and core presentation. However, that didn’t mean there weren’t creative conversations about adjusting elements of the character.

The specifics of those pitches weren’t outlined, but the mere fact that changes were floated signals that WWE at least evaluated whether the full indie/AEW version of Danhausen would translate directly to their programming. Ultimately, the company moved forward with the familiar version — complete with the mystery crate reveal that had been planned since the box first appeared on Raw.

The update comes amid previous reports that Danhausen’s move to WWE wasn’t a unanimous decision internally. Even so, there appear to be no lingering issues regarding his signing, and he’s expected to be utilized across multiple brands going forward.

The bigger takeaway here isn’t whether he was always meant to be in the box — it’s that WWE weighed possible tweaks before committing to the established persona.

Should WWE have made adjustments to the character, or was keeping Danhausen exactly as he is the right call? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
