The Los Angeles Dodgers hit four home runs on their way to a 7-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Ryder Ryan took the mound for his fourth appearance of spring training, and had a solid outing. He allowed a single earned run and had a strikeout through two innings pitched.
While the Rockies scored early, the Dodgers were the first on the board, as Dalton Rushing crushed a 450-foot home run to center field to give the his team a one-run lead in the top of the first. Rushing has homered in back-to-back games, having hit a 423-foot home run against the Texas Rangers on Saturday.
The Rockies scored in the bottom of the second inning through Ryan Ritter, who went 1-for-3 on the day. He hit a one-run single to score Mickey Moniak to level the score.
James Tibbs III continued his solid spring for the Dodgers in the bottom of the fourth, giving them a 3-1 lead with a two-run, 458-foot jack in the top of the fourth. He now has a hit in each of his last four games dating back to Friday against the San Francisco Giants.
The Dodgers failed to extend their lead past two runs after Tibbs’ homer, and they paid the price in the sixth inning. Mickey Moniak and Kyle Karros, son of former Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Eric Karros, hit back-to-back homers to level the game at three.
L.A.’s third homer of the day came in the top of the eighth inning, as Elijah Hainline took advantage of his opportunity in the lineup and hit a two-run blast to give the Dodgers the lead.
Joe Vetrano added onto the Dodgers’ lead in the top of the ninth, hitting a solo shot in just his second at-bat of the spring, and Noah Miller also tagged on a run to make the score 7-3.
The Rockies attempted a comeback in the ninth inning, scoring two runs via bases loaded walks, but the Dodgers managed to get out of the jam and secure the win.
Los Angeles will look to make it three wins in a row on Tuesday, when Roki Sasaki gets the ball as they face the Cleveland Guardians at 12:05 p.m. PT.
