As some of you might have seen already, Mizuno is back with a serious contender for the lightweight speed crown. Here we’ll check more details for the new Wave Exceed Tour 7, a shoe that aims to mix explosive movement with much-improved comfort.
For the past few years, Mizuno has quietly built one of the most dedicated followings in tennis footwear. Their recipe has been consistent: incredibly light weight, a low-to-the-ground feel and impressive stability. However, even the most loyal Mizuno fans will admit that previous versions (specifically the Wave Exceed Tour 6) had one consistent critique: the comfort of the upper, particularly the ultra-thin tongue, which sometimes caused lace bite.
Mizuno listened. The Wave Exceed Tour 7 has landed (available at Tennis Warehouse here), and it has clearly improved on this while pushing the boundaries of their “explosive speed” concept.
Early versions appeared in select markets in late 2025, but the full global tennis launch is now underway.
What’s New?
The mantra for the Tour 7 seems to be “Comfortable Speed.” Mizuno isn’t moving away from its roots, this is still an aggressive, quick shoe, but they are making it a shoe you can actually wear for hours without distraction.
Here are the main upgrades:
1. The Padded Tongue: A Fan-Favorite fix
This is the most significant improvement. The thin, often irritating mesh tongue of the Tour 6 is gone. The new Tour 7 features a plush, cushioned, and ergonomically shaped tongue. It comfortably conforms to the top of your foot, eliminating lace pressure and greatly improving the step-in feel and overall lock-in comfort.
2. MIZUNO ENERZY NXT: Next-Level Rebound
Mizuno is upgrading the engine. While the core “Enerzy” foam remains, the Tour 7 strategically introduces “Enerzy NXT” in the heel and forefoot. Mizuno claims this material is not just softer, but also delivers significantly higher energy return. The result is a sensation that is less punishing on landings and remarkably springy when exploding for a put-away shot. It provides that “takeoff” feeling that speed-focused players want.
3. DX Rubber Outsole
A fast shoe is only good if the outsole keeps up. The Tour 7 debuts DX Rubber, which Mizuno engineers describe as their most durable compound yet. This new rubber offers improved wear resistance, addressing longevity concerns sometimes associated with ultra-lightweight speed shoes.

The Core Mizuno DN: Fast and Stable
Despite the upgrades, Mizuno has preserved the core performance structure that defines the Exceed Tour experience. The shoe maintains the signature low-to-the-ground profile, giving players good feedback from the court surface.
- Weight: It stays very light, with men’s sizes averaging around 12.9 oz (366g).
- The Mizuno Wave Plate: Still the centerpiece of their design. This geometric plate sits in the midfoot, providing lateral stability to prevent rollover while allowing for natural forward flexion.
So… Who is the Wave Exceed Tour 7 For?
The Wave Exceed Tour 7 is designed for the modern, aggressive mover. If you are a player who relies on quick counter-punching, covers the baseline with speed, and loves a “locked-in” feel, this shoe is targeted directly at you.
It competes in the same elite “speed” category as the other major 2026 releases: Babolat Jet Mach 4, ASICS Solution Speed FF 4 and the Nike Court Air Zoom Vapor Pro 3.
The Exceed line is typically:
- Medium to slightly narrow
- Excellent for low-to-medium volume feet
- Not ideal for wide-foot players
The Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 7 is available now in several men’s and women’s colorways, in both All-Court and specialised Clay-Court models.
