KU Blak Blad secured their fifth win of the Kenya Cup 2025/26 season after edging Daystar Falcons 18-10 in a cagey Match Week 9 encounter played on Saturday 28th February 2026 at Daystar University Grounds in Athi River, Nairobi.
The result strengthens BlakBlad’s playoff hopes while handing Daystar their fifth defeat of the campaign.
It was a tight opening with both sides holding firm in the early exchanges.
BLAK BLAD DRAW FIRST BLOOD
BlakBlad drew first blood in the ninth minute through a penalty by Enock Oduor for a 3-0 lead.
Daystar responded in the 12th minute when Joseph Wakhisi slotted a penalty to level the scores at 3-3.
The visitors continued to press and reclaimed the lead in the 20th minute with another Oduor penalty to make it 6-3.
Daystar struck back in the 30th minute with the first try of the game, James Masava crossing over before Wakhisi added the conversion to give the hosts a 10-6 advantage.
Falcons’ Geylord Ngasi was shown a yellow card in the 40th minute as the teams headed into halftime.

The second half was physical, played under wet pith after rainy conditions at Daystar.
In the 58th minute, BlakBlad hooker Brian Shile powered over for a try, though the conversion went wide, edging the visitors ahead 11-10.

BlakBlad extended their lead in the 64th minute when Obat Kuke crossed for a crucial try, with Daniel Ochieng adding the conversion to push the score to 18-10.
That scoreline held until the final whistle as BlakBlad walked away with vital points.
With two matches remaining before the regular season ends, BlakBlad will face Impala next while Daystar travel to take on Nondescripts, as both sides continue their push for playoff spots.
