WWE’s creative direction for Trick Williams and Sami Zayn may be coming into clearer focus — and it could lead straight to WrestleMania 42.
With WrestleMania 42 now just 46 days away, most of the card is reportedly locked in. However, according to Bodyslam.net, one SmackDown match still being actively discussed is Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn.
Per the report, WWE sources have confirmed that the idea of Williams facing Zayn on the grand stage has been brought up internally. While nothing is officially confirmed, the match is said to be under serious consideration as the company finalizes remaining pieces of the WrestleMania lineup.
Williams and Zayn have crossed paths multiple times since Trick was called up to the main roster. Aside from a house show match, their only televised in-ring interaction came during an Undisputed WWE Championship number one contender’s fatal four-way.
That limited history could make a WrestleMania singles clash feel fresh — especially if creative leans into the ongoing discussions about character alignment changes. Previous reports indicated WWE has considered a double turn scenario involving both men, but this latest update shifts the focus to a potential one-on-one showdown on the biggest stage of the year.
With the majority of WrestleMania 42 set, the final SmackDown pieces are now being locked into place. If WWE moves forward with Williams vs. Zayn, it would mark a significant spotlight moment for Trick — and potentially a pivotal character shift for Sami.
