It’s too early to be thinking of a Dan Vladar extension with the Philadelphia Flyers
Kevin Kurz of The Athletic: 28-year-old Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar has been showing that he might be a No. 1 goalie. He’s posted an 18-9-6 record with a 2.42 GAA and .907 SV%. He’s in the first year of a two-year deal at a $3.35 million cap hit. He’s eligible for an extension this offseason. Should the Flyers consider?
Filip Gustavsson‘s five-year, $34 million extension with the Minnesota Wild could be a comparable. Vladar knows it’s too early to be thinking extension.
“It’s too early for that,” he said. “I wanted to come here, so if I didn’t want to stay here, I wouldn’t (have come) here. But it’s too early for that. I’m focusing on my team this season and next game in Toronto (on Monday) or (whenever) I’m going to play. It’s too far ahead. I’m living my life day by day, week by week.”’

The Flyers do have some goalies in the system – Aleksei Kolosov, Carson Bjarnason (2023 2nd round) and Egor Zavragin (2023 3rd), but they’re not close to being ready yet.
